Fly Zoom gone bust

The UK-Canadian airline Fly Zoom have gone bust, as over yesterday! This budget airline used to run flights from the Canada to the UK and France - very useful for me and my family.

Worse still, my mother and grandmother had booked flights with them for their Paris visit in two weeks time. They have managed to re-book with Air Canada but I doubt this came cheap.

Worst of all is Fly Zoom's utter lack of an attempt to compensate customers who have booked flights - they advise to contact your debit/credit card issuer for a refund. Is this normal? Will these card issuers pay out? It looks very much like shirking responsibilty to me.
